October 22, 2005: FOUNDATION FUNDRAISER:  Tag Sale!  The first Fundraiser for the Nathan Smith Foundation will be a tag sale held on Massachusetts Ave, in Porter Square.  Although it is true that some of Nathan's personal stuff will be sold at this first event, they are items that his family could not take, and felt that the money gained from them would be of special use to the Foundation.  Also at the first Fundraiser we are very glad and proud that artists have donated artwork to be sold for the benefit of the Foundation, so please show up for a unique and inspiring day.  North-Prospect United Church of Christ 1803 Massachusetts Avenue Cambridge, Massachusetts 02140
ü Done!
We got the word out, on My Space and phone calls, emails .... The Nathan Smith Foundation Tag Sale was this last weekend, manned by three friends of Nathan (pictured left to right; Allison Soriano, Mark Fogle (The Foundation Treasurer and Director), and Jason Arledge.  Heather and the Papersource employees provided crucial support and backup!  THANKS GUYS!
A chilly day, but lots of hard work and warm hearts,  one or two mochas later, the Foundation raised a respectable 395. (after paying the church 15. for the space).  The items of Nathan's that were sold will therefore be used by people who did not pay too much for them and who will appreciate them and get use out of them, and these monies raised to help artists get the space they deserve!  Ah, all things Nathan would surely dig.  Again, thanks everyone!

NEW!

                                                                               August 1, 2006

Dear Friends;

I am pleased to announce From The Ground Up; a benefit for The Nathan Smith Foundation for the Visual Arts, held on August 16, 2006 at the Vernon Street Studios in Somerville, Massachusetts!

Heather Pilchard will be headlining the event, and her paintings are full of sensual force- they are tremendous.  Joining her are Jason Arledge, who will be showing his striking, soulful work for the first time, and Laurie Mee whose water-inspired prints and mixed media transport the viewer quickly away from the daily and the usual.

These artists are each unique and that is fitting considering we do this in honor of such a unique guy.  I'm grateful for the collaboration.

You simply must come see this work, chill out to the mellow tunes by DJ Midas Touch, and sip some wine with us!  Break up your week a little, enjoy the fine arts, contribute to a great cause.

Looking forward to it!
